Are you Ticked? Support Catholic Education

Like many Catholics, you may be surprised to find out that you are not registered as a Separate (Catholic) School Supporter, but rather, as a Public School Supporter. By directing your tax support to the Separate School System:

  • You may vote for Separate School Trustees in Municipal elections (October 22, 2018)
  • Your children may attend Catholic elementary schools
  • You show your support for the Catholic school system

To verify that you are an English Separate (Catholic) School Supporter, check the assessment section of your Tax Bill or Property Assessment Notice. To register as a Separate (Catholic) School Supporter or change your Direction of School Support, please contact the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Admissions Department at 905-890-0708 ext. 24512 or admissions@dpcdsb.org.

Creating Pathways to Success

The Creating Pathways to Success Ministry policy stipulates that all students from Kindergarten to grade 12 are to be reflecting on their educational journey and establishing goals to set for their career/life planning.

In support of this expectation, Dufferin-Peel continues to foster the essence of knowing the learner through the use of electronic portfolios, while all students have access to their own personal account in myBlueprint to maintain a record of their personal growth.

In addition, Monthly Parent newsletters are now available to inform families of ways to engage their child/children in career/life planning through the maintenance and development of their e-portfolios.  Please find attached the Parent Newsletter October 2017.

Hot Weather Advisory

Parents/guardians are encouraged to send children with hats and protective clothing or to use sunscreen (with and SPF of 15 or greater) when the UV index is high. Please ensure that your child has a reuseable water bottle to use throughout the day.

A reminder that children can get sunburned on a cloudy day as up to 80 percent of UV rays can penetrate light clouds.

A Hot Weather Plan is in place for conditions where: • The humidex reaches or exceeds 35 C. • Environment Canada issues a humidex advisory (air temperature exceeding 30°Celsius and Humidex exceeding 40°Celsius) • There is an Ontario Ministry of the Environment smog alert; or, • There is an Environment Canada/Weather Network or Peel Health Heat Alert. Weather conditions are monitored by the office using The Weather Network and alerts sent by the Board and/or posted on the Board’s website.
